Con el pasar del tiempo, las imágenes, objetos y palabras con las que habitamos en nuestro entorno cotidiano se convierten en pequeños mitos; mitos que plasman los referentes iconográficos, léxicos y narrativos que nos vinculan e identifican como pueblo. A su vez, la acostumbrada e incesante recurrencia del vai-ven diario termina por enmudecer los sentidos que entraña la cotidianidad. Algo similar sufre el lenguaje, que con el uso y sobre uso de la palabra en la jerga popular se va desgastando hasta perder su vigor.
En mi trabajo propongo abrir un espacio donde lo cotidiano (re)cobra el potencial de engendrar significaciones, de provocar algún tipo de reacción ante lo que rutinariamente pasa desapercibido. En fin, mi arte no es más que un intento por dar vida a las pequeñas cosas que, aunque inadvertidas, forman parte del tejido que compone nuestro imaginario social y cultural.
With the passage of time, the images, objects, and words that we interact daily with become small myths; myths that capture the iconographic, lexical and narrative references that link and identify us as a society. At the same time, the customary and incessant recurrence of our daily routine ends up muting the senses in our daily lives. Our language, as a consequence of our daily use and overuse in popular jargon, suffers from something similar causing worn in the words and hurting their vigor.
My work seeks to open a space where the routinely mundane (re)collects the potential to engender diverse meanings, to cause a reaction to what habitually goes unnoticed. In a nutshell, my art is no more than an attempt to give life to the small things that, although unnoticed, are part of the fabric that makes up our social and cultural setting.
